Read Section 2. After reading the section, tell me something about the section. Write something interesting, something you did not know previously, and one interesting facts (one of each). You can also ask a question about the section.
I did not know that in 2000, Al Gore and Bush were the only president candidates were the only ones on the ballot in all 50 states. The others were in some states but not in others. I did not really look at the fact that we are a pluraristic society. We found that the electoral system works best for out country due to our government.
I didn't know that there was such a thing as pluralistic society. This is a society consisting of several distinct cultures and grouops. I also was shocked to learn that there were soo many other parties(minor parties)such as: the green party, reform party, libertarian party, constitutions party, socialist party, independent party, and a new alliance party. I also found it was crazy that most the time third parties don't get on the ballot because there are just too many.
I did not know that the two political parties has so much history behind it. Peter's Law goes along with the two parties and that is why we still have both major parties. An interesting fact is that US is a pluralistic society is one consisting of several distinct cultures and groups. Also something interesting is the bipartisan. I never knew that the two parties worked together on issues.
I find it interesting that Earl Dodge has ran for president 5 times and I dont even have a clue how he is and I haven't ever heard of him before. I didn't know that the U.S. is called a pluralistic society because we have many different types of people within our country. I find it intersting that the civil war and the depression in the 1930's had a big effect on the elections during those times.
I did not realize we had a Prohibition Party. I thought this issue was dropped in the 1930s. I have always heard of America being a melting pot. However a more proper term for this is pluralistic society. Interesting fact: In 2004, an Independent was voted to the House of Representatives. He was Bernard Sanders from Vermont.
I didnt know that there were specific reason why we have a two party system. The four are historical basis, tradition, electoral system, and american ideological census. ALso, peopel as far back as my great great grandfather supported the 2 party system.
I think it's really cool how we have crazy nutso parties like the marijuana party and the nazi party. I think it's neat that they get the privelage to beleive whatever they want. Without political parties out government wouldn't be able to satisfy almost everyone.
I did not know what plurality was until you told us in class today. The Socialist Party's Eugene V. Debs was the first to be a non-major party candidate. Is everyone in the Repupublican and Democratic parties have different believes, and do they have some of the same beliefs?
I didn't know what pluralistic government. It is simpler to use it as many different types of people that the u.s. has.I didnt know we went through different procdueres to see what type of system would work the best for our government.
I did not know we had so many parties, because you never really hear about some of them. I found it very interesting that some of the parties arent on the ballots because there are too many of them.
I didn't know that we were considered a pluralistic society. We have many diverse groups and cultures. I also didn't know what a coalition was. It's a temporary alliance of several groups who come together to form a working majority to control the government. I think it's interesting and cool that a party membership is voluntary and is something that you have the right to choose.
Ok, well i never knew about the pluralistic society. I thought it was kind of interesting that there were only two presidential candiadates on all 50 state ballots in the 2000 election. I knew that there was the Democratic, Republican and independant, but i didn't realize that there were like six other parties.
I didn't kno that America was a pluralist society. I knew that we had several cultures, but i didn't know it was called pluralistic. I did kno that we had 2 major parties and a lot of minor parties.

I learned that democrats are usually black, female, and poor, and the republicans are usually white, male, and rich. A consensus is a general agreement among various groups. Something i didnt know about was the one party system or the "no party" system.
I learned that the reason why we have 2 main parties is so that we have a majority winner instead of a plurality. I also learned that the democrats like to have the government more involved with there daily lives and the republicans want the government to interfere less.
I found out that we are a pluralistic society. I also learned why we put in the electoral college. Then i learned a little about the history of the two main parties that we have today.
I am a 5th year Senior at Northern State University in Aberdeen, SD. I am a History/Social Science major for Secondary Education with a minor in Coaching.

I did not know why we had 2 specific parties. I also did not know we had a pluralistic society. Without political parties nothing would get solved.
