I didn't know that there were four different eras of the american parties. There are the era of the democrats, era of the Republcans, the return of dems, and then the start of a new era. An incumbent is the current officeholder.

The section was all about the American Parties and how their were different eras. I had no idea that the American Party history was all based on certain eras and was categorized in such a way. The democratic party split into factions, which are conflicting groups.

I didn't know all of the different eras of the parties in america. An incumbent is the person who is currently in office. I just have one question, how did they know that the democrats were having a comeback?

One thing that i did not know that there were certain eras that the parties went through. I think thats kinda of interesting how they all had there times in history and how a certain party will thrive at certain points but then lose power, and then a couple decades later they come back into power. I think its interesting that there are four types of minor parties also.

I never new that the were era's specifically named for both of the parties, i knew that each held office for a long time in different times but i never knew how long. It was kinda kewl to learn about the four different eras.

I didn't know that the party that was in office was called the incumbbent. I find it interesting that each party has had an era where they were dominant. I also find it interesting that the eras go back and forth.

I didn't realize that throughout American history there have been four real eras in which a specific party held office for a long time. It makes me wonder what kind of era we are entering now. I know the last real democratic era took place right after the republicans ruined the economy and destroyed the market. Sounds kind of similar doesn't it? I think it's interesting that South Dakota didn't vote for McGovern, Nixon won, and then resigned two years later. We voted in a crook instead of one of our own citizens and he ends up getting kicked out anyways.

One thing that I didn't know is that an incumbent is a current officerholder. Like George Bush is the incumbent of the Presidential office. Also an electorate is the people eligible to vote. An interesting fact is the nation's first political parties were the federalists and anit-federalist.

The Jeffersonian Republicans were the precursors to the current day Democrats. I learned there were 4 eras of political parties since 1800. Thomas Nast came up with the donkey and elephant for symbols of the political parties.

I didn't know that there was 4 major periods for each of the american parties. I found it interesting that the parties didnt actually split untill the mid 1820's. There was 2 eras for the Democrats and only one era for the republicans until 1968 and thats when it was both groups.

I did not know about all fo the American Parties. I thought this was pretty interesting to read about. Another thing I thought was pretty interesting was that the incumbent was the person in office at that time.

i knew that there were two parties, but i didnt know that they were represented by an elephant and a donkey. I think it is also kind of wierd how the republicans were actually the ones who freed the slaves when they tend to be the ones who want to keep things the same

There were four different eras of the control over government. The era of the democrats was first. Then there was the era of the republicans. After that the democrats and FDR returned to power. Then there has been a mix of parties in the current elections.
